Pioneer Settler

Pioneer settlers, are those who are keen to get involved now, who have their own portable accommodation, and are prepared to live with very basic conditions, while enjoying working with a great team of people who are enjoying getting the ball rolling. It’s not for everyone, you’ll need a certain amount of personal resilience and determination.  There are some advantages; you get the pick of the sites and a large discount on price of the leases, plus you get more involved in the creative development process.

Second Wave Settler

Purchase a lease, and plan to move on once the infrastructure is completed, some of the economic development is completed, and our building team is ready to build your new home. Have the security of knowing you have a place to come to, and let the pioneers get some of the hard work done first while you stay in your current situation and prepare. If you pay for your lease now, you’ll still get a discount, and you can visit from time to time to check on progress and enjoy a break

‘Seeding’ Investor

 We are planning on selling over 20 leaseholds over the next 2 years, plus continuing with further infrastructure and economic development. To do this we have engaged some key staff, and will need more, to get the job done. We need further short-term investment to cover the ongoing costs of this. This investment can be structured as a loan secured on leasehold sites, or preferential shares in our development company, with negotiated returns, depending on amount, terms and conditions.  All amounts will be appreciated

Development Investors

The development of the infrastructure, and various projects, including much of the house building, is being undertaken by Kotare Commons Ltd, a multi-stakeholder company owned by: the Trust, village members and private investors with preferential shareholding. We are looking for medium to long-term investors who are interested in moderate return, and are interested in supporting good work, and investing in something tangible that will have real value when our present globalised economy inevitably starts retrenching

Skilled Employees and Entrepreneurs

Over the next few years and beyond we are looking for skilled workers and entrepreneurs to support our development program. Those in particular include:

• Builders
• Accounting and business skills
• Sales and marketing skills
• A farm manager
• Forestry/sawmilling/planters
• Entrepreneurs of any persuasion, we have good internet, and Wairoa has lots of potential

Aligned Immigrants

We are aware that there are many people, overseas, that are considering relocating to the relative safety of NZ. We are also aware that immigrants offer a certain ‘edge’ in wanting to create a new life for themselves, that has some affinity with our vision.   Amongst these, are also people who can align with our vison, and will see the advantages of ‘nestling in’ with a structured community that will support them in many ways. We are able to assist with supporting their immigration, either as skilled employees or through investment visa. Any investments will be treated the same way as development investors above.
